In this day and age, when discriminating birders are looking for home decorating ideas, they undoubtedly look for a home décor website. And, though we may have somewhat of a biased opinion, we believe that www.wingonthings.com is the premier home décor website on the Internet. As you will note, one of the things we suggest to the discriminating birder is BIRD POTTERY.

Created by artisans in the Oaxaca Region of Mexico, our BIRD POTTERY both unique and beautiful. An excellent example is this piece, which we refer to as simply as “dos Loros,” or “Two Parrots.”

The vase itself is rust-colored with Zapotec markings. At the very top is a green parrot’s head with black bill and tan markings. Beneath it is the only opening in the vase - a “bowling bowl” sized hole.

The vase is adorned with two complete parrots with pale blue heads and green bodies with tan markings. Their rust colored wings have tan and blue markings, and their beaks are jet black.

As with most of our BIRD POTTERY, the “body” is round, necessitating a “ring” to sit on, which does come when the vase is purchased. Nearly fifteen inches high, this is a wonderful piece to be displayed on either table or mantle.

Another thing that we at www.wingsonthings.com are pleased about is the fact that by purchasing our BIRD POTTERY clients are also helping one of the most economically depressed areas of North America. The artisans in Oaxaca, Mexico are living at a near-subsistent level, and by following “fair practice trade” rules with the potters, weavers, and woodcarvers we deal with we are helping to improve their way of life and, in fact, the entire Oaxacan economy.
